'True Blood' Leads People's Choice Awards Nominations

It's a good year to be undead. The People's Choice Awards nominations have been announced -- and after more than 18 million votes, the masses have made known that they're still thirsting for vampires. 'Twilight' has dominated the movie categories, and the blood-sucking Southern drama 'True Blood' has emerged as a top TV contender.

The HBO series picked up a nod for favorite TV obsession, and star Anna Paquin has been placed in the drama actress category. The gothic show has also been nominated as a sci-fi/fantasy favorite, along with fellow undead series (and best new TV drama nominee) 'The Vampire Diaries.' (The blood lust doesn't end there: Showtime's serial killer series 'Dexter' was also nominated as favorite TV obsession, and don't get us started on all the backstabbing that goes on with fellow obsessions 'Gossip Girl' and 'The Hills.')

Others who made the new TV drama short list include the just-canceled 'Eastwick,' 'FlashForward' and 'The Good Wife', while critical and cult hits 'Modern Family' and 'Glee' will be going up against each other (and the just-canceled 'Hank') for favorite new comedy.

Queen Latifah is hosting the event, which will be broadcast live on CBS Jan. 6. Vote for your favorites here, and check out the full list of TV nominees after the jump.

What to Watch Wednesday, Jan. 7

Damages'Damages'
(10PM, FX) 2nd season premiere
The premiere opens on Ellen, and, without giving away a plot point that will drive much of the season, it's safe to say that she's still reeling from last season's finale, when the person behind her fiance's murder was revealed.

A new friend Ellen meets in group therapy tells her she has only two options for dealing with her pain: forgiveness or revenge, and she's definitely made up her mind which way to go.

As for Ellen's boss Patty, she's seemingly trying to change her wicked ways by fronting a charitable endeavor, but when a man from her past (William Hurt) pops up unexpectedly (and unwanted) in her present, it's clear Patty's going to be in for another wild ride, too.
