It seems like just yesterday we were greeting the lineup of the 2009-2010 television season; every show was equal, and no show had a better chance at success than any other. What a difference a few weeks make, as now some series are already looking down the barrel of a shotgun, ready to be canceled with barely a few episodes out the gate. Television is a cutthroat world indeed -- here we look at the series that are currently on thin ice, and the odds that they'll come out the other side.

It wasn't long ago that 'Ugly Betty' had its supporters in droves, proclaiming its brilliance to the heavens. Now, alas, the show seems to have been abandoned, allegedly returning this season only so it has enough episodes in the vault to qualify for syndication. Which it does, so there!

Leonard Nimoy on FringeLeonard Nimoy has both lived long and prospered, but now it looks like he may be moving to a new frontier: a world without acting.

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Nimoy, who has appeared in three episodes of Fox's sophomore sci-fi drama 'Fringe', may be done with both the show and acting in general. Though he remains in discussions with series creator J. J. Abrams and showrunner Jeff Pinkner about continuing the role, Nimoy indicated some ambivalence about how the character has developed -- or rather, how he has not developed.

HouseFox is planning to enter the upcoming fall TV season a bit later this year.

Today, the network announced premiere dates for its biggest new and returning series, including 'House,' 'Fringe' and a brand new season of 'So You Think You Can Dance,' set to air beginning Sat., Sept. 12. This is the first time in years where Fox will debut shows closer to TV's official premiere week (beginning Sept. 21), according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Elsewhere in what is proving to be one of the show's funniest, best seasons, Franco and Mike butt heads over their differing viewpoints on 9/11, Mike - who seems oddly smarter, for the most part, this season - gets a new idea for a theme bar, Tommy meets Sheila's new therapist and Sean meets up with the creepiest back doctor ever.

He's a genius scientist and always the smartest guy in the room. He's also certifiably insane. John Noble brings Walter Bishop to life on 'Fringe,' admitting he relishes playing someone with such terrible manners and bizarre non sequiturs.

AOL TV sat down with Noble to try to get hints about some of the show's biggest secrets, but the charming Aussie wasn't so easy to crack. He does dish about certain characters getting naughty, Olivia (Anna Torv) not being what she seems and a connection between all three main characters coming up, which he calls "amazing."

Obama'Presidential Inauguration'

There'll be dozens of inauguration balls, parades and TV specials, but the main event -- leading up to the noon swearing in of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States -- begins at 10AM.

Evangelical pastor Rick Warren will deliver the invocation, civil rights leader Joseph Lowery will deliver the benediction and Yo-Yo Ma, Aretha Franklin and Itzhak Perlman will provide the celebratory tunes before Vice-President Joe Biden takes his oath.

He will be followed by Obama, who will take his oath of office from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, using the bible that Abraham Lincoln used at his 1861 inauguration ... a historical day indeed.
