8 Shows that Are Creepy in a Good Way

The Vampire Diaries - Nina Dobrey
Some shows are creepy just because, well, they're icky to think about. Like 'The Girls Next Door' (twins sleeping with the same old guy!) or 'Hoarders' (the ultimate pack-rats!). Then there are shows that are frightening, but in a good way. Read on for eight such shows that make you look under the bed at night, avoid cemeteries, and ponder alternate universes.

'Fringe' Season 2 Episode 8 'August' - Watch it Now (Video)

A scene from 'Fringe': AugustLast night the 'Fringe' season 2 episode 2 'August,' a rogue observer crossed the line when he mysteriously abducted a young lady off the street.

The other observers were confused by his action and called the Fringe team to correct the situation. Peter and Olivia went on the hunt for the kidnapper and tried to save the girl before it was too late.

Meanwhile, Walter's allegiances were questioned by Peter when he helped the Observers over the FBI.

Joshua Jackson Talks Gross Mysteries and Peter Not Falling for Olivia on 'Fringe' - VIDEO

Joshua Jackson, 'Fringe'According to 'Fringe' star Joshua Jackson, we haven't seen the grossest thing the show has to offer just yet. Exploding heads and old man babies are nothing -- just wait until you get a load of the nematodes, which Jackson admits "just made me want to vomit."

And that's not the only thing we have to look forward to with the rest of this season. There's also the big Observer episode (Thurs., Nov. 19, 9PM ET on Fox), which investigates the origins of the show's mysterious bald onlooker and his ilk, where Jackson promises "we come to know them well."

But, of course, the show isn't all just mysteries, gross-outs and creepy hairless men -- there's also the family-like relationship between Jackson's Peter Bishop, his father Walter Bishop (John Noble) and Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv).

So is Jackson surprised that fans are so vocal about not wanting to see Peter and Olivia together? "No ... If it goes in that direction -- if something naturally comes out of it -- then I'd be fine with that. But I just hate it when you just slam the characters together because they're 'supposed' to be together." We couldn't agree more.

Anna Torv Talks Alternate Olivia, Finding Love & The Observer on 'Fringe' - VIDEO

Anna Torv, 'Fringe'As full of mysteries as 'Fringe' is, you'd expect the Vancouver set to be on serious lockdown. It's not (we managed to get an invite to play without even begging), but that doesn't mean the show's stars aren't totally cagey when pressed for details.

Anna Torv -- who plays CIA agent Olivia Dunham, the tortured target of so many experiments gone awry due to having been poked and prodded as a child -- is particularly good at dodging questions. But, of course, that doesn't make her any less lovely.

We caught up with Torv in the lab set, her home away from home, to get the scoop on The Observer, the return of William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) and what she thinks Bizarro Olivia might be like. "One little choice, or one little thing, and everything sort of changes," Torv says of one of the show's greatest twists, the introduction of an alternate universe. "So, do we meet Olivia? And is she just this soft, gentle, happy mom?"

That's hard to imagine, considering we've mostly only seen tough gal Olivia. But Torv promises that a love interest for the Olivia in this world isn't out of the question either, even if she has been burned so many times. "I don't think she's bitter -- I think if she's to have [a relationship], it'll be like an escape." What else does Torv want to see for her character? "I want to start wielding a sword!" Yeah, I don't think any fans would complain about that.

The Show Girl Talks to Simon Baker, Joshua Jackson and Ben McKenzie - VIDEO

Joshua Jackson, 'Fringe'You've got questions? I've got answers. I'm The Show Girl!

This week, I sit down and get personal with 'The Mentalist' star Simon Baker in a very special interview, even getting him to answer a fan question from the live audience, and open up about being a dad.

And, for you 'Fringe' fans out there, I have scoop straight from Joshua Jackson on everyone's favorite bald man of mystery, The Observer. (Don't you want to know why he puts Tobasco on everything?) I also get 'Southland' star Ben McKenzie to promise he'll finally get on Twitter ... if fans of his do one little thing.

Want more? Email me TV questions at TheTVShowGirl@aol.com -- who knows, I might just give you an answer on the show. Now watch, enjoy and come back next week for more. Until then, happy TV watching! -- By Maggie Furlong

TV Shows Most Likely to Be Canceled: We Made the Odds, Now Place Your Bets

It seems like just yesterday we were greeting the lineup of the 2009-2010 television season; every show was equal, and no show had a better chance at success than any other. What a difference a few weeks make, as now some series are already looking down the barrel of a shotgun, ready to be canceled with barely a few episodes out the gate. Television is a cutthroat world indeed -- here we look at the series that are currently on thin ice, and the odds that they'll come out the other side.

Don't agree with our odds? Let us know!

ABC:

'Ugly Betty'
It wasn't long ago that 'Ugly Betty' had its supporters in droves, proclaiming its brilliance to the heavens. Now, alas, the show seems to have been abandoned, allegedly returning this season only so it has enough episodes in the vault to qualify for syndication. Which it does, so there!
Odds of Cancellation: 2 to 1

Illogical! Leonard Nimoy May Quit 'Fringe' -- and Acting In General

Leonard Nimoy on FringeLeonard Nimoy has both lived long and prospered, but now it looks like he may be moving to a new frontier: a world without acting.

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Nimoy, who has appeared in three episodes of Fox's sophomore sci-fi drama 'Fringe', may be done with both the show and acting in general. Though he remains in discussions with series creator J. J. Abrams and showrunner Jeff Pinkner about continuing the role, Nimoy indicated some ambivalence about how the character has developed -- or rather, how he has not developed.
