'Desperate Housewives' Is Not Whacking Drea de Matteo -- For Now

Rest easy, Drea de Matteo fans. Rumors that her new 'Desperate Housewives' character is about to be whacked, Adriana-style, due to budget cuts surfaced over the weekend, but they are unfounded.

The Ausiello Files quotes a 'Housewives' insider as denying the report, which surfaced over the weekend in the National Enquirer, that de Matteo was being laid off just a few episodes after joining the show, and that her character, Angie Bolen, was due for an imminent Mob-style hit.

The Enquirer story, printed in the tabloid's Nov. 30 issue, claimed that de Matteo's Angie was about to sleep with the fishes, though the article contained some fishy numbers itself.

'Desperate Housewives' Season 6 Episode 8: 'The Coffee Cup' - Watch Now (VIDEO)

With bribery, the creative sentencing of Susan to garbage cleanup for her accidental shooting of Katherine, the secret of Lynette's hidden pregnancy revealed, and Angie's discovery that Orson and Bree's marriage is anything but idyllic, one could never accuse Sunday's episode of 'Desperate Housewives' of being boring.

These and other scandalous goings-on abound in the 'Housewives' episode 'The Coffee Cup.' All that plus a barista being strangled by a mystery assailant at the end of the episode add up to another typically crazy day for the ladies of Wisteria Lane.

10. 'The O.C.'

Doug Savant on 'Desperate Housewives,' 'Melrose Place' and Being Gay on TV

Doug Savant made a name for himself as the openly gay character Matt Fielding on the original 'Melrose Place' from 1992 to 1997. After reportedly leaving when producers backed off from addressing Matt's sexuality, Savant stayed busy with made-for-TV movies and guest spots on shows like 'JAG' and 'The Love Boat: The Next Wave' until he re-emerged, in 2004, as Tom Scavo on 'Desperate Housewives.'

Now Savant's promoting '36½ Reasons to Laugh,' a book that helps raise money for underprivileged children who need dental care. He dished with AOL TV on the new 'Melrose,' how Matt Fielding changed television (and his career) -- and addressed those pesky rumors that the ladies of Wisteria Lane don't get along.
