8 Shows that Are Creepy in a Good Way

The Vampire Diaries - Nina Dobrey
Some shows are creepy just because, well, they're icky to think about. Like 'The Girls Next Door' (twins sleeping with the same old guy!) or 'Hoarders' (the ultimate pack-rats!). Then there are shows that are frightening, but in a good way. Read on for eight such shows that make you look under the bed at night, avoid cemeteries, and ponder alternate universes.

'True Blood' Leads People's Choice Awards Nominations

It's a good year to be undead. The People's Choice Awards nominations have been announced -- and after more than 18 million votes, the masses have made known that they're still thirsting for vampires. 'Twilight' has dominated the movie categories, and the blood-sucking Southern drama 'True Blood' has emerged as a top TV contender.

The HBO series picked up a nod for favorite TV obsession, and star Anna Paquin has been placed in the drama actress category. The gothic show has also been nominated as a sci-fi/fantasy favorite, along with fellow undead series (and best new TV drama nominee) 'The Vampire Diaries.' (The blood lust doesn't end there: Showtime's serial killer series 'Dexter' was also nominated as favorite TV obsession, and don't get us started on all the backstabbing that goes on with fellow obsessions 'Gossip Girl' and 'The Hills.')

Others who made the new TV drama short list include the just-canceled 'Eastwick,' 'FlashForward' and 'The Good Wife', while critical and cult hits 'Modern Family' and 'Glee' will be going up against each other (and the just-canceled 'Hank') for favorite new comedy.

Queen Latifah is hosting the event, which will be broadcast live on CBS Jan. 6. Vote for your favorites here, and check out the full list of TV nominees after the jump.

Scream Awards Preview: A Fox-y Apology, Shatner Shenanigans and More

Terror, cold sweats, hot flashes and adrenalin shots may sound like last week's 'Grey's Anatomy' plotline, but these conditions also were on display at the Scream Awards, Spike TV's fourth annual fete of filmdom's best in science fiction and horror. Handed out at the Greek Theatre in L.A. on Oct. 17, the telecast airs on the network on Oct. 27 at 10PM EDT. We won't ruin the fun by giving a rundown of all the winners (though -- SPOILER ALERT! -- we do mention some), but here's a quick primer for tonight's telecast, with a few highlights that might make the show DVR-worthy.

Most Improved TV Shows: 10 Bad Shows That Got Better

Amy Poehler When it debuted last spring, 'Parks and Recreation' already seemed in need of some urban renewal. Sure, Amy Poehler was funny, but the rest of the ensemble didn't gel around her, the plotting was listless and the jokes fell flat.

In its second season, however, the writing has become sharper, the pacing has gathered steam and Poehler's bureaucrat with delusions of grandeur has become someone to sympathize with and root for.

'Parks' deserves a ribbon for improving on a rocky start; after all, few shows that stumble out of the gate are able to recover their footing and race to the forefront. Here are nine more that did ...

'True Blood' Finale: What Are You Dying to See?

True Blood'True Blood' winds up its second season Sunday, Sept. 13 and the finale looks to be a big, bloody showdown between the citizens of Bon Temps and supernatural being Maryann.

According to HBO's episode description, the havoc-causing maenad conscripts heroine Sookie Stackhouse to be her maid of honor at a sacrifice/wedding. Sookie's brother Jason and deputy Andy prepare to crash the party, guns a-blazing, while shape-shifting bartender Sam teams up with an unlikely ally (Eric, maybe?).

Not sure what's going on with Bill, but we imagine he's flying to Sookie's rescue. But ever since Sookie was tricked into drinking Eric's blood, she's been having those scandalous dreams about him. Could a new hook-up be on the horizon? Alan Ball isn't telling, but see what he has to say about a potential Sookie-Eric relationship in TV Squad's interview.

Watch a preview of the finale and let us know how you think things might go down for the Bon Temps crew ...
