'SNL' Musical Guests: Best 'Saturday Night Live' Performance Videos

Since its debut in 1975, 'Saturday Night Live' has been synonymous with bringing pop music to the late-night, weekend masses. Now in its 35th season on NBC, 'SNL' has indeed become the holy grail for musicians.

Over the years, many memorable performances have graced the 'SNL' stage. In this list, we select the 7 best. Some were energetic, some were raw and emotive, some were quirky and fun.

But mostly, they were all daring for broadcast television at the time.

'Saturday Night Live' November Lineup: Taylor Swift, January Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Taylor SwiftLate night comedic mainstay 'Saturday Night Live' has revealed its November lineup.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that upcoming shows will include Taylor Swift (cue up the 'VMA' skits -- will Kanye appear?), the second appearance of The Black Eyed Peas and the first 'SNL' performance in over a decade by the Dave Matthews Band.

The November lineup follows:

Saturday, Nov. 7: Taylor Swift as both host and musical guest

Saturday, Nov. 14: 'Mad Men''s January Jones with musical guest

Saturday, Nov. 21: Joseph Gordon-Levitt (of '500 Days of Summer' fame) with musical guest The Dave Matthews Band

Saturday, Nov. 28: to be announced

Taylor Swift to Host 'Saturday Night Live.' Will Kanye Show Up?

Taylor SwiftLet the Kanye West jokes begin. According to Variety, country singer Taylor Swift has been signed to host the upcoming Nov. 7 episode of 'Saturday Night Live'.

Swift, you may recall, recently received just a bit of media attention thanks her acceptance speech for best female video at the 'MTV Video Music Awards', which was interrupted by West in his misguided attempt to get recognition for an otherwise overlooked artist named Beyonce.

What to Watch Weekend March 14-15

Kings'Kings'
(Sun., 8PM, NBC) series premiere
For those who complain there's nothing but the same old same old on TV ... here's something different.

'Deadwood' star Ian McShane is Silas Benjamin, King of fictional Gilboa, rival of the neighboring nation of Gath. When the Gathians take Gilboa citizens as prisoners, a young soldier named David Shepherd ('Eragon's' Chris Egan) rescues the bunch, including the King's son.

What ensues is a David-and-Goliath-ish tale that includes power struggles, romance, backstabbing and some compelling acting by breakout star Egan and the always wonderful McShane. Add in an upcoming guest gig by Macaulay Culkin as the King's nephew and, well, there's weird, wild stuff going on here.

What to Watch Weekend, Jan. 10-11

'24'
(Sun., 8PM, Fox) 7th season premiere
Jack Bauer's on trial for his interrogation tactics, Tony Almeida's alive and CTU has been disbanded, which proves to be just the right amount of drama to get this new season off to a great start.

Fans have been waiting for more than a year (that darn writers strike!) for new episodes, and these first four hours (which continue Monday night at 8) were worth the wait, as the first female President of the United States (Cherry Jones) faces a national security threat and calls on – who else? – Jack to help ferret out the terrorists behind it.

And it's that search for the bad guys that leads to a very familiar – and previously very dead, or so we thought – face.
