ABC Buys 'Women Are Crazy, Men Are Stupid' Sitcom

What we have always feared to be true about men and women is now being turned into a sitcom. According to Variety, the book 'Women Are Crazy, Men Are Stupid' by 'Samantha Who' writer Jenny Lee and 'According to Jim' executive producer Howard J. Morris is getting the small screen treatment from ABC.

ABC Cancels Five Shows

According to Jim CancelledABC is saying goodbye to a whopping five series.

Absent from the network's fall schedule launch this morning (see the full schedule at Variety) were a number of freshman series, including 'Cupid,' 'In the Motherhood' and 'The Unusuals.'

'Motherhood' faced a number of hurdles early on, including poor ratings that subsequently caused the series' episode order to be sliced in half. ABC also tried numerous ways to promote 'The Unusuals' -- even airing it twice a week -- but the show never caught on.

Also getting the boot are 'According to Jim,' which finally ends its eight season run, and the previously announced 'Samantha Who?' 'Samantha' was reportedly cancelled when the show failed to come up with appropriate budget cuts.

Which Bubble Show Should Be Saved?

TerminatorAh, spring. It's the time of year for daffodils, chirping birds ... and cancelling shows.

TV Squad has a rundown of shows that will be renewed, cancelled or are on the bubble. The Hollywood Reporter also has a handy update, and we're sad to see some of our favorite shows are in jeopardy of going dark, including a personal fave, 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.' TV critic Alan Sepinwall also makes a good case to NBC for keeping the action-comedy 'Chuck.'

So, if you had the power to save a show on the bubble, which one would you choose?

What to Watch Thursday, March 26

In the Motherhood'In the Motherhood'
(8PM, ABC) series premiere
Fake pregnancies, 'mannies' and staycations ... all just part of a day in the life of 'In the Motherhood,' an adaptation of the Internet comedy about three friends with radically different styles of parenting.

Rosemary (Megan Mullally) is the most free-spirited of the bunch, which makes it all the more surprising that her teenage son Syd is a responsible kid.

Her newly-divorced pal Jane (Cheryl Hines) struggles with her caring, but quirky manny Horatio (Horatio Sanz), while Jane's uptight sis Emily is finding out that, despite all her efforts to build the perfect life with the perfect husband in the perfect home, her children are not at all perfect.

The annual Snowflake Ball provides the Upper East Side teens with an opportunity for romance, but, as usual, exactly who'll be, ahem, Ball-ing with who is up in the air.

Serena is happily ensconced in her new relationship with artist Aaron, but when his ex-girlfriend shows up at the gallery and starts making plans with Serena's ex, Dan, Miss van der Woodsen gets jealous.

Meanwhile, Nate finds himself in a love triangle with pals Jenny and Vanessa, and Chuck and Blair meet a pair of lookalikes and counsel them on how they -- the dopplegangers -- can make a relationship work where they -- the real Chuck and Blair -- can't.

Samantha Who and Boston Legal'Samantha Who?' and 'Boston Legal'
(9:30PM and 10PM, ABC)
Guess who's coming to dinner?

At the Newly home, it's Samantha's new boyfriend Owen, who's going to get to know Sam's 'rents during a family meal. But Owen gets a case of foot-in-mouth disease when he meets Sam's dad -- a chicken farm owner -- and makes disparaging remarks about chicken farm owners.

Meanwhile, it's about turkeys on 'Boston Legal,' when Shirley plans a cozy Thanksgiving dinner for herself and Carl, but instead -- and here's where the turkeys come in -- ends up hosting a dysfunctional pseudo-family affair when Alan and Denny and the office gang want in on the festivities, too.

When Chuck and Blair have suddenly emerged as the most likable characters on the show, it may be time for their fellow Upper East Siders to rethink some of their life choices.

Like, say, Dan, who was so jealous of little sis Jenny's renegade fashion show success that he's decided to deploy whatever means necessary to launch his writing career. Dan's plan: Pretend to befriend Chuck's papa Bart Bass.

That alone is enough to tick Chuck off, but when the junior Bass finds out that Dan's ulterior motive is to dig up Bart's nastiest secrets for a Vanity Fair mag article (yes, we're just going to pretend it isn't ridiculous that a high schooler would be assigned a major VF expose) ... let's just say there's nothing scarier than a baby Bass scorned.

saturday night live'Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008'
(9PM, NBC)
Is it as important as tomorrow night's election coverage? Duh. But it's undoubtedly more fun, as the Not Ready for Primetime Players unspool two hours of very primetime-worthy political skits.

Recent sketches (Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton, Fred Armisen as Barack Obama and, of course, Tina Fey as Sarah Palin) and clips from the 'SNL' vaults -- Chevy Chase as a bumbling Gerald Ford and Will Ferrell's numb-skulled Dubya, for example -- pepper the election eve special.

And there will be some new surprises from the show that's been the go-to series for political satire this season. We'll just be happy to see Poehler's 'Palin Rap' again.

Christina Applegate Interview for 'Samantha Who?'

Christina Applegate"Every time I go to [an event], I try to find [a dress] that's different and new. That's sort of how I live my life ... it's always about never repeating myself."

AOL TV talked to 'Samantha Who?' star Christina Applegate shortly before she revealed she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Applegate, a former Emmy winner and current nominee, underwent a double mastectomy and plans to resume shooting her series this month.

As she prepares to appear on 'Stand Up to Cancer,' we share her thoughts on lighter topics, like fashion, good Sam/bad Sam and the chances of a Bundy reunion.
