'How I Met Your Mother' Season 5 Episode 9 'Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap' Recap

How I Met Your Mother - Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap What happened on this week's 'How I Met Your Mother' episode, 'Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap' -- in 100 words or less.

As thanks for recovering his beloved turkey for Thanksgiving, Marshall gives unto Ted and Robin his fourth of five SlapBet slaps, to be used that day.

Chris Elliot plays Lily's father, who spends more time making ill-conceived board games than he ever did being a father. But after declaring him dead to her, she ultimately learns that forgiveness is the better route.

No one can agree on who should slap Barney, until Marshall declares that to honor the holiday, there will be no slap. He releases Barney from the slap throne ... and then slaps the heck out of him!

A&E Picks Up 'Bob Saget's Strange Days': Which Groups Should He Travel With?

Bob SagetComedian Bob Saget is going on a few road trips next year.

A&E and the longtime television personality have agreed to produce a new travel series under the working title 'Bob Saget's Strange Days,' in which he explores off-beat communities and subcultures. So far, the show will have Saget hanging out with biker gangs, mail-order brides, partying Amish teenagers and survivalists. An initial order of seven one-hour episodes are scheduled to air at some point in 2010, according to Variety.

The show is said to stem from Saget's stand-up routine, and will explore alternative lifestyles while trying to uncover a more emotive element. In a statement released, senior vice president Robert Sharenow said the show "will reveal hidden corners of the real America and the real Bob Saget, who is even funnier and more relatable when just being himself than any other role he's ever played."

Which CBS Show Should Get the Post-Super Bowl Slot? (Team 'How I Met Your Mother'!)

How I Met Your MotherCBS has an important decision to make: Which of their programs will follow the Super Bowl in an effort to grab the incredibly high ratings that the NFL championship game inevitably gets every year?

Does the network choose a comedy, like NBC would do with 'Friends' after Super Bowl XXX, one that featured guest stars like Brooke Shields, Chris Isaak, Jean-Claude Van Damme and more? Or does CBS do what Fox did after Super Bowl XLII -- aka the greatest Super Bowl ever, featuring the New York Giants upsetting the undefeated Patriots -- and air an hour-long drama like 'House'?

Whatever CBS decides, we implore them not to complete the trifecta and air a third post-Super Bowl episode of Survivor. It's time for some fresh blood.

'BSG' Alum Michael Trucco Embraces the Law in New USA Pilot 'Facing Kate'

Michael Trucco's days of galaxy drifting are definitely over. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 'Battlestar Galactica' alum has signed on for USA's 'Facing Kate,' a pilot that follows a lawyer named Kate (Sarah Shahi) who leaves her job for a new career as a mediator.

Trucco will play Kate's ex-husband, who also happens to be a lawyer. The show's premise stems on the death of Kate's dad, another lawyer, which sends her into a need for a new career of sorts.

Also signed on is Virginia Williams ('How I Met Your Mother') as an obsessive stepmother.

What does Kenny Rogers have to do with Barney's attempts to persuade Robin to become a U.S. citizen? Nothing. He narrates the audio book they listen to when they hit the road.

Chris Elliott Joins 'How I Met Your Mother'

The identity of the titular mother remains a mystery, but 'How I Met Your Mother' fans will get to meet another parent: Lily's previously MIA dad, who'll be played by 'Get a Life' funny guy Chris Elliott.

Elliott joins the gang for the Thanksgiving episode -- set to air on CBS on Nov. 23 -- in which he'll be reunited with his estranged daughter during a holiday dinner at her grandparents' house.

EW.com's Michael Ausiello reports that we'll also see flashbacks to Lily's childhood, which will show some of her dad's shady shenanigans and shed light on why she's not exactly daddy's little girl.

'How I Met Your Mother' Mom Watch: Rachel Bilson?

Rachel BilsonCould 'How I Met Your Mother' soon be known as 'How I Met Rachel Bilson'?

EW.com's Michael Ausiello reports that the actress, formerly of 'The O.C.,' will guest star in the show's 100th episode in January.

'HIMYM' executive producer Craig Thomas revealed that the pivotal episode would contain "some serious Mother action." He went on to say, "It'll be the closest Ted's ever come to [discovering who she is]. He's getting a step closer every episode this season, and episode 100 [we] kind of go bananas with it."

We've got the scoop on September's choice TV-to-DVD releases: We'll let you know when you should dole out your hard-earned dollars, and when a simple addition to your Netflix queue will suffice. -- By Janine LoGelfo

'No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency' (The Complete First Season) - HBO's series about a strong Botswana woman based on the popular Alexander McCall books has yet to be renewed for a second season -- while that mystery is being solved, familiarize yourself with this gem of a show. Jill Scott's portrayal of the iconic character Mma Ramostwe is like a breath of fresh air, and the show is surprisingly clean for HBO's sensibilities, featuring no profanity, explicit violence or sex throughout the whole season.
