What to Watch: February 9

'American Idol' (8PM, Fox)
The beginning of 'AI's' annual Hollywood round brings all the golden ticket winners from the early audition rounds to town, and it brings a very special new face to the judge's table: comedienne/sitcom star/talk show hostess Ellen DeGeneres, who officially becomes Paula Abdul's replacement when she joins Simon, Randy and Kara to determine which of the Hollywood kids will make it into the top 24. The Hollywood rounds, where the contestants are put through the paces with individual and group performances, continues through Feb. 17, when the season nine top 24 is revealed. As for Ellen, word is that she'll be a little more, um, tactful, than Simon, but don't expect her to be a pushover. She has promised to be a sensitive, and honest, judge.

Staff Crush: James Franco

James FrancoIn honor of Valentine's Day, AOL TV's staff will be revealing their crushes all week.

We all know that James Franco is good-looking. In fact, there have been studies to prove it.

But his looks, however wonderful, are just a small (albeit essential) reason I consider him to be the ultimate man. Beneath the eyes, the scruff, the smile (that smile!) is an actor who, at age 31, is actually making something out of his career.

What to Watch: February 8

'Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp' (9PM, VH1) season 7 premiere
You know the drill ... and the drill sergeant. Eight celebs have signed up for drill instructor Harvey Walden's taxing workouts, as well as nutritional and motivational advice from diet coach Ian K. Smith and life coach Rhonda Britten, as they attempt to shed pounds in the latest season of VH1's celebreality weight loss drama. This season's contenders: Bobby Brown, former 'Baywatch'-er Nicole Eggert, 'Project Runway' season 1 winner Jay McCarroll, 'Bad Girls Club' season 2 alum Tanisha Thomas, rocker Sebastian Bach and 'High School Musical' star Kaycee Stroh. Ohhhh, and, last but certainly not least, the ex-Mr. Britney Spears, Kevin Federline, and his babymama ex, Shar Jackson. And yes, all the contestants get emotional, and personal, in the premiere's first weigh-in, when they talk about the events that led them to gain -- and decide to shed -- the extra elbees.

What to Watch: February 6-7

'Super Bowl XLIV' (Sun., 2PM, CBS)
Okay, so kick-off of the NFL championship game, between the New Orleans Saints (who make their first-ever Super Bowl appearance) and the Peyton Manning-led Indianapolis Colts doesn't happen 'til about 6PM, but Super Bowl is an all-day event, so tune in early for predictions, team previews and plenty of entertainment. 'American Idol' champ-turned-country music superstar Carrie Underwood will sing the National Anthem at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, while Queen Latifah sings "America the Beautiful" and The Who performs at half time (and we trust there's no chance of wardrobe malfunctions there, hmmm fellas?). On the classic rockers' set list: "Baba O'Riley," "Pinball Wizard," "Who Are You" and "Won't Get Fooled Again." It also wouldn't be a Super Bowl broadcast without those buzzmaking TV ads, and among this year's spots (which cost $2.8 million for each 30-second clip): a Snickers ad with TV legends Betty White and Abe Vigoda, a new promo for 'Iron Man 2' and a Focus on the Family spot that's already sparked a controversy.

What to Watch: February 5

'Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America' (9PM, VH1)
This installment of VH1's 'Rock Doc' series celebrates the 40th anniversary of 'Soul Train,' the 1970-2006 music series that became the longest-running syndicated show in TV history. 'Soul Train' creator and original host Don Cornelius chats about the show's influence, as it was one of the only shows to consistently spotlight black musicians, and dance and fashion trends. Gladys Knight, Al Green, Tina Turner, B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Chuck Berry, Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind & Fire, Rick James, Luther Vandross, Janet Jackson, The Commodores, Whitney Houston, New Edition, Bobby Brown, Brian McKnight, Maxwell and Aaron Neville were among the hundreds of stars who showcased their hits with 'Soul Train' performances, while elements of the show -- like the 'Soul Train' scramble board and Cornelius' signature sign-off, "We wish you love, peace and soul" -- became part of popular culture.

What to Watch: February 4

'The Sarah Silverman Program' (10:30PM, Comedy Central) season 3 premiere
She's back and naughtier than ever! This season will find Sarah meeting up with her imaginary childhood friend (guest star Andy Samberg), telling her pals, gay couple Brian and Steve, that they have hygiene issues, writing a children's book and taking on a Nazi war criminal played by Emmy winner Ed Asner. And tonight's premiere finds Sarah in one of her most outrageous situations ever, as she comes to believe that she was born with both male and female genitalia. How does she, um, handle, the situation? Let's just say it involves a moustache, a unibrow and the grossest necklace you've ever seen in primetime.

What to Watch: February 3

'Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials' (8PM, CBS)
What's your favorite recent Super Bowl commercial? The E-Trade baby? The Doritos crunch spot? The Bud Light ad with the talking, flirting monkey? They're all a part of this special, hosted by Jim Nantz and Lara Spencer, that counts down viewers' favorite commercials from Super Bowl telecasts of the recent past. Viewers can go to the CBS.com Website and vote for their picks from amongst a list that also includes the Tide To Go pen talking stain ad, the football-playin' Budweiser horses, the Budweiser Rock Paper Scissors game and the clever CareerBuilder.com commercial with tips on when it's time to look for a new job.

What to Watch: February 2

'Lost' (9PM, ABC) season 6 premiere
So many questions to be answered as the show, one of the greatest watercooler series of all time, kicks off its final season. We pick up with the island-dwellers just after the bomb detonation from last season's finale. Who's alive? Did Juliet survive the blast? Why and how is Claire back on our TV screens? Yep, the bomb fallout is a doozy, as it appears to be not so much a matter of how or where Sawyer, Juliet, Jack, Kate, Locke and the gang are, but rather when they are ... yeah, we know, you get one answer and 20 more questions pop up. Man, we love this show.

What to Watch: February 1

'Kell on Earth' (10PM, Bravo) series premiere
You know her as the irreverent, impatient, sharp-tongued boss of Lauren and Whitney on 'The Hills' and 'The City.' Now, you'll know her as the irreverent, impatient, sharp-tongued boss on her own reality series. The titular Kell is Kelly Cutrone, owner of fashion firm People's Republic, and if you think she was, um, intense, on MTV, you ain't seen nothing yet. In the opener, People's Republic is scheduled to produce two major shows during New York Fashion Week ... no big thing, since Cutrone's team once produced five shows on the same day. The first event goes off perfectly, but a computer glitch sends everyone scrambling for the second one, where all the VIP guests are without seat assignments and Kelly's reputation is on the line.

What to Watch: January 30-31

'Grammys' (Sun., 8PM, CBS)
There'll be a special tribute to Michael Jackson, but it promises to be ladies night at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards, as Beyonce and Taylor Swift not only perform, but lead all nominees with 10 and eight nominations, respectively. Pink and Lady Gaga, another pair of Grammy nominees, are also among the scheduled performers, along with Green Day, Bon Jovi, Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and the Dave Matthews Band. Meanwhile, the Jackson tribute will include a 3-D clip of the late singer performing the tune 'Earth Song,' a clip that was filmed to be a part of the UK comeback concerts he had scheduled before his death last June. Usher, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson are among the celebs who will participate in the MJ tribute.
