What's Hot on Inside Movies: 'New Moon' Mania; Oscar Buzz for Carey Mulligan

When Good Shows Go Bad (AKA the 'Heroes' Hall of Shame)

Recently, we were inspired by 'Parks and Recreation' to write a feature listing TV shows that overcame a rocky launch. Sadly, the reverse seems more common: shows that start strong but finish weak.

Our latest inspiration is the ongoing death spiral of 'Heroes.' (This week: Mohinder does something stupid! People's powers go awry at inopportune moments! Adrian Pasdar, pictured, looks like he'd rather be anywhere else!) Here's a once-inspired show that seems to be going down in flames after having run out of ideas.

Other times, shows peter out because of casting changes, bad writing or bizarre creative decisions. In each case, however, the audience feels betrayed and often deserts the show, leading to ratings death and what-went-wrong autopsies. Here's what went wrong on nine other good shows gone bad.

8 Shows that Are Creepy in a Good Way

The Vampire Diaries - Nina Dobrey
Some shows are creepy just because, well, they're icky to think about. Like 'The Girls Next Door' (twins sleeping with the same old guy!) or 'Hoarders' (the ultimate pack-rats!). Then there are shows that are frightening, but in a good way. Read on for eight such shows that make you look under the bed at night, avoid cemeteries, and ponder alternate universes.

Drama Queens Podcast: Just How Good Is 'The Good Wife'?

Kelly and Patricia marvel over 'The Good Wife,' one of the best new shows of the fall season -- and the only legal procedural, to boot. Plus, they look forward to the 'Top Chef' finale and lament some DVR dilemmas (damn you, Wednesdays at 9PM and Thursdays at 8PM!).

Watch or listen to the podcast now.

StreetLevel's 'Dexter' Product Guide

Looking for a special something to give the serial killer on the block this holiday season?

StreetLevel has some macabre merriment based on the Showtime series 'Dexter,' which features a serial killer (Michael C. Hall) who works for the Miami Metro Police Department as a blood spatter analyst.

The gift guide gallery is located here, and features several official Showtime 'Dexter' gifts. Here's a sample of what's in store.

Hot on Inside Movies: 'New Moon' Reviews, Werner Herzog, Best '30s Movies

It's that time of the day here at Inside TV, when we put down the remote and check in with our silver screen siblings over at Inside Movies.

• You may have heard of a little movie opening up tomorrow: 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon.' You can find out what the critics are saying in the film's review roundup.

• My So-Called Dress: Claire Danes arrives at the premiere of her new film 'Me & Orson Welles' and gives the crowd more than just a smile. Check out the NSFW pics.

• With Werner Herzog's remake of cult classic 'Bad Lieutenant' opening up this weekend, Inside Movies cozies up with the acclaimed director to discuss Hurricane Katrina, new-age humbug and why it's OK with him if you laugh at his films.

• From 'Frankenstein' to 'The Wizard of Oz,' take a trip through Hollywood's Golden age in a collection of best '30s movies.

• Looks like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan aren't the only rom-com pair that audiences love. Take a look at some romantic comedy couples that should consider an onscreeen reunion.

• And finally, a linguist in Minnesota actually taught his son to speak Klingon instead of English, and the results just might surprise you!

Happy 50th Birthday, Rocky & Bullwinkle! Moose and Squirrel Through the Years

Wossamotta U? You didn't know that Thursday, Nov. 19, marks the 50th anniversary of all things Bullwinkle?

The dimwitted but beloved moose, along with flying squirrel pal Rocky, foes Boris and Natasha, 'Fractured Fairy Tales' and 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman,' debuted in 1959 on ABC's 'Rocky & His Friends,' a twice-a-week afternoon series that moved to primetime when it shifted to NBC and became 'The Bullwinkle Show' in 1961.

The series was created by Jay Ward, the U.C. Berkeley and Harvard grad who also created the Cap'n Crunch character. And though "moose and squir-rel," as baddies Boris and Natasha so often referred to them, are beloved today, Ward's daughter Tiffany Ward -- who was 11 when her dad created Bullwinkle and his buddies -- says the show wasn't a ratings smash during its original run.

Hot On Inside Movies: Kate Hudson Can Sing; Sharon Stone Bares All

Kate Hudson NineThis week in Hollywood, it's been all about 'New Moon'. But don't worry non-Twihards, our friends over at Inside Movies have been working hard on getting you some great stories!

- In 'Almost Famous' she hung out backstage; In the film 'Nine', Kate Hudson steps out into the spotlight, proving she's got a few musical tricks up her sleeve.

- Last week Congress passed the health reform bill, so maybe now they can relax and catch a movie. Here's a list of suggestions for them.

- Is there a such thing as being too old to be topless on a magazine cover? Sharon Stone doesn't think so.

- Shawn Andrews ... Who's that? 16 years ago he made us laugh in 'Dazed and Confused.' Now, he's back and starring in the bold and edgy film 'Fix'.

- Peter Jackson took a little break from his typical gory style. But his new film 'The Lovely Bones' encouraged him to take the violence up a notch.

- In an effort to promote '2012,' Columbia Pictures launched a fictional website. Do you believe all the hype on viral marketing for movies?

Our Favorite TV Sidekicks: They're the True Stars of the Talk Shows

On June 23, 2009, the trademark laugh of the greatest sidekick of all time was silenced as Ed McMahon floated up to the great sidekick couch on the sky. While Publisher's Clearing House commercials and 'Star Search' reruns will never be the same, the good news is that McMahon, who rose up in the wake of some pretty stellar sidekicks himself, set the bar high for those to follow.

Perhaps he set it too high, though, as newcomers to the talk show field like Jimmy Fallon and Craig Ferguson have chosen to fly solo on their talk shows. And that's a shame. Like wine in a box and BBC America series, these straight men of the chat circuit are all too often underappreciated and overshadowed but consistently, inconspicuously deliver the goods.

Rachael Ray to Host 'All My Children' Yard Sale

'All My Children' is moving its production from New York to Los Angeles in January -- but not everything is coming with it.

In what may be every soap-lover's fantasy, the show has decided to host a yard sale to clear out some old inventory. The sale will be held this Monday, Nov. 23 from 11AM to 3PM at the Rachael Ray Studio.

Attendees take note: Ray's talk show will be taping the garage sale for a segment that will air on a future episode -- so, in other words, if you're there to buy one of Billy Clyde Tuggle's pimp hats, be prepared to have your friends and family find out about it.

Proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. To obtain a ticket, contact Karina at 917-332-3188. Cash and credit will be accepted.
