Regis Philbin to Take Leave of Absence from 'Live With Regis and Kelly': Who Should Fill In?

'Live with Regis and Kelly' is about to become 'Live With Kelly' for the time being, as Regis Philbin announced today that he is taking a leave of absence from the show.

As reported by Entertainment Tonight, Philbin made the announcement during today's episode of 'Live' and indicated that he will begin his hiatus on December 1 in order to recover from upcoming hip surgery. Philbin, who is 78 years old, injured his hip several months ago when he fell on the set of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' while taping a prime time special.

Brian Austin Green Returning to 'Smallville'

Eat your heart out, Iron Man, because it looks like Metallo is coming back to town.

According to the Ausiello Files, Brian Austin Green will be returning to 'Smallville' to reprise the role of supervillain Metallo, a cyborg who is powered by an artificial Kryptonite heart. When we last saw the character, who made his debut during this season's September 25 premiere, he was seemingly killed when his heart was accidentally removed from his chest. But like most comic book characters, it appears that he has a superior health plan.

Spielberg, King Bringing 'Under the Dome' to TV

You can pinch yourself all you want, but you aren't dreaming: Steven Spielberg and Stephen King are teaming up for a TV show.

In the greatest Steven/Stephen combination since Carell and Colbert left 'The Daily Show', Variety is reporting that King and Spielberg are collaborating on an adaptation of King's latest novel, 'Under The Dome', which has been optioned by DreamWorks TV with the likely intent of turning it into a major cable event.

King, of course, remains one of the most prolific writers in America, especially when it comes to works adapted for television or film; the acclaimed horror author has had no fewer than 33 feature films alone based on his stories, including classics such as 'Cujo', 'Carrie' and 'Stand By Me'. In the realm of television his record is a little spottier, though it does include popular events such as 'Salem's Lot,' 'It' and 'The Stand'.

Kiele Sanchez, Carlos Gomez Join A&E's 'Sugarloaf'

'Lost' fans wondering if they would be seeing more of Kiele Sanchez are in for a treat, as the actress will be returning to television as someone other than Nikki Fernandez.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sanchez has been tapped to co-star in 'Sugarloaf,' an upcoming pilot for A&E. The actress, who was most recently seen this summer in the big-screen thriller 'A Perfect Getaway', is best known for her role as Fernandez, who quickly became the target of fan ire during season three of 'Lost,' leading producers to abruptly kill off the character (you gotta please the viewers somehow).

MTV Picks Up 'This Is It': Why It May Be Better Suited for Television

The King of Pop is heading back to the network that turned him into a superstar, as MTV has landed the television rights to the Michael Jackson concert film 'This Is It'.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, MTV Networks, which includes sister properties such as VH1, BET and Palladia, has purchased the exclusive U.S. rights to the documentary comprised of behind-the-scenes footage shot earlier this year from the rehearsals for Jackson's planned comeback tour.

With Jackson's untimely death this summer, it was anticipated that the film would shatter box office records when it was released last month. While 'This Is It' did debut in the top spot, however, the current total of $67 million domestically has fallen short of expectations, possibly due in part to tepid word of mouth, as some viewers felt the unfinished routines in the movie did not live up to Jackson's high performance standards.

Amaury Nolasco, Ethan Embry Join Cable Pilots

Hey, remember that guy you liked on that show who you thought was going to become a big star but never got the break he deserved? Well, according to the Hollywood Reporter, two of television's "that guys" are finally getting their chance.

Amaury Nolasco, who is probably best known to audiences as Fernando Sucre on 'Prison Break,' and who also has been putting in time on shows like 'Southland' and feature films like the upcoming 'Armored,' will be joining the cast of 'The Quickening,' a new pilot for A&E. He'll be playing the ex-husband of fellow-detective Maggie Bird (Radha Mitchell), who is relegated to deskwork after she develops bipolar disorder.
