'Dollhouse' Canceled Already: Fox Bulldozes 2009 TV Series

Dollhouse canceledFans of Joss Whedon's cult phenom 'Dollhouse' will be sorely disappointed to learn that Fox has just dropped the sci-fi series, exactly as we predicted earlier this week (we'll hold off on calling bragging rights -- for now).

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show was pulled after a season of disastrous ratings. It's September premiere, for example, was seen by just 2.0 million people, and earned a shockingly low 1.0 rating in the all-important 18-49 demo. Ratings continued to plummet as the season went on, with 'Dollhouse' earning a series-low 0.8 rating just a couple of weeks ago. So, in other words: Nobody should be all that surprised by today's report.

Still, some wondered whether the show would be saved (again) because of its impressive DVR numbers. As we reported earlier, the second season premiere saw a 50 percent increase once its DVR numbers were factored into the mix.

In the meantime, Fox says it will air all 13 episodes (the show is currently in production on episode 11). Whedon also said he is working on giving the show a proper send-off when it returns to TV on Dec. 4.

We expect fans will set their DVRs accordingly.

Should Fox have canceled 'Dollhouse'?
