ABC Cancels 'Eastwick,' 'Let's Dance'

Eastwick'Eastwick' will no longer cast a spell on ABC.

The network has reportedly chosen not to order any additional episodes of the bewitching series, starring Rebecca Romijn, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In the meantime, ABC says that it will finish filming the remaining episodes under the show's 13-episode order. These episodes will in fact see the light of day -- at some point, anyway.

Eastwick has already been bumped for the next two weeks. The CMA Awards will air this Wednesday, followed by an exclusive interview with Janet Jackson on Nov. 18. That means the first of the six remaining episodes wouldn't even hit our screens until at least Nov. 25, assuming ABC sticks to its current schedule.

Considering that ABC is building a pretty strong lineup of shows on Wednesdays ('Modern Family'; 'Cougar Town'), it might not be a bad idea to think about replacing 'Eastwick' immediately.

There lies the question: If ABC were to move 'Eastwick,' where would it go? And more importantly: What would replace it on the schedule? Eventually, the network will run out of interviews and awards shows to fill the immediate void. So, why not consider a potentially life-saving switch with 'Ugly Betty'?

Ugly BettyFridays have become a dumping ground for shows (just ask 'Betty.' last week, the show drew in a measly 4.8 million viewers, after a previous all-time low). And with 'Eastwick' already getting the boot, it can't hardly do much worse than 'Betty' is doing now. So, why not give 'Betty' another shot in a new time slot, if only to see whether the old girl still has some life left in her? She did just get a new makeover after all.

Sound off: What do you think should replace 'Eastwick'?

In other news, ABC has pulled a bit of a 'Southland' by canceling 'Let's Dance' before it even airs. The reality show was to begin on Nov. 23, with Kathy Griffin serving as emcee. However, the show has since been pulled, reportedly due to casting issues (apparently, ABC didn't read our suggestions). Talk about life on the D-List.

Meanwhile, the network also announced that it will be picking up five more episodes of 'The Forogtten,' a crime drama starring Christian Slater. 'The Forgotten' airs tonight at 10PM, following the 'Dancing With the Stars' results show.
