The cookie has not crumbled for the Cookie Monster. The 'Sesame Street' character has not been renamed the "Veggie Monster" in an attempt to get kids eat better, says Gather.
The Veggie rumor, one of the top Google searches this morning, has spawned from the recesses of the Internet and was
probably fertilized, if you will, by reports that the show will be updated on Nov. 10 for its 40th anniversary season. Google's use of the Cookie Monster on its Google Doodle probably didn't help.
The Cookie Monster, however, has been eating healthier in the past few years. In 2005, Sesame Street producers started to tweak the character to encourage healthier eating habits among viewers. Among the changes were an ebbing of his insatiable desire for cookies (hello, fruits and vegetables!) -- but not the elimination of it.
In 2006, Elmo, Grover and CM also appeared on the cans of Del Monte products, in an push to get kids to eat healthier. Recently, Cookie Monster has also teamed up with the American Egg Board.
"He's still Cookie Monster," a show rep said at the time.

I agree, Cookie Monster has to continue to eat cookies and take away the veggies. If parents can not get their children to eat healthy then that is where the problem lies. It is not up to cookie monster he is what he is and should stay that way---Cookie Monster!

Cookie Monster is a fictional Muppet character on the children's television show Sesame Street. He is best known for his voracious appetite and his famous eating phrases: "Me want cookie!", "Me eat cookie!", and "Om Nom nom nom" (said through a mouth full of food). The rumors started a few years ago with a series of complaints that Cookie Monster advocated kids to eat too many sweets. It is the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street, so it's understandable why people are concerned – but take heart, Cookie Monster will still love cookie – but now emphasizes a more balanced and healthy diet. There will be no Cookie Monster Veggie Monster change, so don't waste low interest loans investigating false rumblings over nothing.
