The true story is out -- Elaine did take off with a "face bra."The 'Ally McBeal' gang reunited on ABC's 'Good Morning America' Monday to promote the DVD release of the series, which ran on Fox from 1997 to 2002.
"I did take a face bra home," said actress Jane Krakowski, who played Elaine on 'Ally McBeal.' "I thought we were allowed to take something off the set when the series ended.''
"This is a little surreal," series creator David E. Kelly chimed in. "We're seeing each other, a lot of us, for the the first time in many years. Fortunately we have happy memories, so it's a fun occasion."
Seven members of the cast were interviewed by GMA's Tom Bergeron in Los Angeles. 'Ally McBeal' featured actress Calista Flockhart as a single lawyer working for the decidedly quirky Boston law firm of Cage, Fish and Associates.
Why did the show work?
"[Ally] was searching for her soulmate and she was passionate about that search and I think that is the plight of a lot of young women," Flockhart said. "They want to have a family and they want to have that love and they want to have babies and how do you do all that in this crazy world we live in?"
The show featured a dancing digital baby, which became, briefly, something of a phenomenon. "I think it was her biological clock,'' Flockhart said of the dancing baby. "It was representative of that tick -- I might have gotten it wrong."
Former cast members Portia de Rossi, Lucy Liu and Robert Downey Jr. did not participate in the reunion. Lisa Nicole Carson, who played Ally's best friend Renee Raddick in seasons one through four, did make the 'GMA' appearance.
