This fall, The Disney Channel will reel in viewers with the premiere of its first animated series in three years, 'Fish Hooks.' The Hollywood Reporter details a 21-episode Disney order for the new 'toon show, which chronicles the underwater happenings at Freshwater High, a school submerged in a fish tank of a local pet shop.
Cartoon-rendered teen fish such as Piranica, Clamantha and Jocktopus deal with typical adolescent dating, homework and popularity issues, as well as seaworthy topics such as aquarium field trips to the pet store's hamster cagesand even an occasional assault from a giant lobster.
The last time The Disney Channel rolled out a new animated show was 'Phineas and Ferb' in 2007. President of entertainment at Disney Channels Worldwide Gary Marsh calls the 'Fish Hooks' effort "one of the most original, inventive animated series on television, bringing an ingenious twist to the classic archetypes of high school life."
