ABC has announced that 'Scrubs' will be returning on Dec. 1 with back-to-back episodes airing at 9 and 9:30PM, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The show will then continue to air at its regular 9PM Tuesday night time slot. Details are scant, but it's looking like the scrubs could be coming off, as the show promises to move away from Sacred Heart -- not just in location, but with a whole new cast. As previously reported, Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison are scheduled to appear in the first several episodes, but the degree to how much they're involved remains to be seen.
'Scrubs' has seemingly become the show that will not go away. It was originally scheduled to end its run on NBC in its seventh season, but in a rare move, the show was renewed by ABC for an eighth season. The old cast members are set to appear in six episodes, helping to transition into the new direction, which could take on more of a med-school vibe, according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger
It'll be interesting to see whether or not the new cast resonates with 'Scrubs' fans; shows often can get away with replacing one cast member in later seasons, but a whole new group of people is where the challenge lies.

I'm glad Scrubs may be returning. It's a great show but I'm not sure it can survive without the big three. I will watch anyway just to see how it goes.

Well, we'll just have to see. ER got along fine without the original cast. I'm not sure how comparable these two shows are since I don't watch Scrubs. The law and order series may have done at least one full fotation of both prosecutors and cops

Why even bother calling this show "Scrubs" anymore? Couldn't ABC just make a new medical drama / comedy and carry on? There will be no link if both the permanent cast and the location will not be the same.

They're just flogging a dead horse! When the fans raised a fuss, they figured they better do something and they hope we're going to fall for this. It remains to be seen if it will be anywhere NEAR as successful (but that's not too likely)

Turk and Cox will stay as regular characters. The creator of 'Scrubs' wanted to change the name to 'Scrubs Med' and have it be listed as a spin off, but ABC rejected the idea.

So we're going to have the full medical experience from "Scrubs" in medical school, "Grey's Anatomy" as the intern/learning experience right on through to "The Practice" for how doctors supposedly really live and work. Uh huh. Sure.

I love Zach Braff, but I just enjoy Scrubs....He may be gone with the big three, but if the format stays close to the same, I think it will do fine.....

I don't know how it can top the "original" scrubs, because the chemistry would be hard to reproduce however I will give it a fair shot. Seems to me that it should be called something else. Also I didn't see in the article but will it be the same writers?
