Look-A-Like for Halloween

Who better to dress up as for Halloween than your favourite celebrity? We spoke to Paul Venoit, make-up artist on Canadian series 'Look-A-Like', for tips and tricks to make your costume the talk of the town. The TV series takes ordinary, everyday people and transforms them into whatever celebrity the person claims to look like.

Check out this gallery of last season's 'Look-A-Like' participants.

Which celebrities are hot this year?

To capture the essence of your favourite celebrity for Halloween, it's important to choose a star that has an edge and a signature look, dead or alive.

For the ladies, there's Marilyn Monroe's signature blonde hair, red lips, mole, and white dress...Cher's long black straight hair and Vegas-like costumes...Britney's braided hair and kilt...Gwen Stefani's signature mohawk and red lips etc...find an image online and copy it! Madonna's always fun to emulate...Kristin Davis, however, not so much.

For the boys out there, famous characters like Johnny Depp in 'Pirates of The Caribbean' or 'Edward Scissorhands'... or how about Brad Pitt in 'Fight Club'?

Do your research and find a look that captures your imagination.

What supplies are essential?

On the checklist for the night, be sure to have your wigs or hair extensions, loads of hairspray, make-up (beauty supply stores carry all you need) and your wardrobe ready to go. The more attention to detail the better.

What's the best bit of advice you have to offer?

It takes more than just a little lipstick and hairspray for the big win here...you need to have fun! Don't be afraid to push your boundaries, step outside of your comfort zone and make it happen.
