"Bring on A-Rod and the Yankees!" Phillies pitcher Scott Eyre said after the Phillies won the NLCS -- but before the outcome of the ALCS had been determined. Well, it took a few days, but it looks like the Phillies are finally getting what they wanted.
It's an all-East Coast affair as the Philadelphia Phillies meet the New York Yankees in the 2009 World Series, the 105th championship contest in MLB history. The Yankees, with a regular-season record of 103-59, will have home field advantage over the Phillies (93-69) in the best-of-seven series. This is the second time the two teams have met in the World Series and the first since 1950, when the Yankees swept the Phillies four games to none.
To reach the Fall Classic, the Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS four games to one; the Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels four games to two.

So sorry, but this is a ridiculous post!
"See below for the full World Series TV schedule." Where 6 of the 7 games are time TBD? Give me a break.

what are starting times for the world series on Fox? I see only 10/28. Want to watch games with my grandchildren, so need to know if they will be able to stay up on school nights.
Will determine if I go to NY or not - I live in LA. Yes, was looking forward to Dodgers/Yankees.

Joe,
You might as well stay in LA. The games aren't played for the fans in the stands, just the ones who watch on TV. Even with a 7:30 start, the games have been taking so long to complete due to all the "managing" of the bullpen,4 hr. games have become the norm. Great for the sale of hot chocolate in the freezing ballparks, but not much else.
If common sense had anything to do with it, Game 3 and 4 in Philly should be day games, when the temps might be above 50 degrees. Don't count on that, though--gotta be in prime time.
This World Series could be the coldest on record--another good reason to stay in LA! Go Yanks!!

Hi Joe (and everyone) -- the start times haven't actually been announced yet. We'll update this post the moment they are; I expect it'll be by sometime tomorrow, so I'd check back then. Thanks for inquiring!

Why can't the Fox Network hire a couple of commentators for the World Series that won't make excuses for the Yankees everytime they make a mistake or make an error. For example in the 2nd inning of game 2 Matt Stairs hits a base hit near Johnny Damon that scores the first run for the Phillys and Tim McCarver readily says "well there are 7 players behind the pitcher and they just can't be everywhere". I am so sick of him and Joe Buck, you would think that the Yankees are the only team in America. Please cut us a break and either get unbiased or get gone!
