Need more proof that the 'Twilight' vampire craze is still in full swing? Here you go. 'Vampire Diaries,' the CW's news series about vamp brothers with a thing for the same girl, drew 4.84 million bloodthirsty viewers in its debut last night, making it the network's most-watched series premiere EVER (yep, even better than '90210' last year). Talk about not sucking. [EW.com]
Former 'ER' star has dropped out of the buzzed-about new NBC series 'Parenthood' to focus all of her attention on her ongoing battle with breast cancer. Tierney's spokesperson released a statement saying that "doctors remain confident that the outcome of her treatments will be positive." Her 'Parenthood' role will be recast, with Marisa Tomei topping the list of possible candidates. [AOL Television]
The already ubiquitous Oprah Winfrey is about to become even more so, as her nationally syndicated TV talk show heads to satellite radio. Beginning in mid-September, new episodes of 'Oprah' will air on Sirius XM Radio the morning after they air on TV. [The Hollywood Reporter]
Foreign TV distributor TeleMunchen has reeled in Ethan Hawke and William Hurt to star in a $25.5 million TV adaptation of Herman Melville's classic 'Moby Dick.' The miniseries will feature Hurt as Ahab, the megalomaniacal captain of the whaling ship Pequod, and Hawke as Starbuck, the ship's first mate and the only sailor who opposes Ahab in his obsessive hunt for the titular giant whale. Ellen DeGeneres may want to think twice before cranking up the music and dancing out to the couch on her eponymous talk show. Some of the world's largest recording companies are suing 'Ellen,' alleging that producers of the show have used more than 1,000 songs (mostly during Ellen's famous dancing bouts) without proper copyright permission. [The Hollywood Reporter]
Get used to 'Late Late'-night TV-watching with Craig Ferguson. The talk show host is close to finalizing a deal with CBS to return as host of 'The Late Late Show' through the 2011-12 season, putting him in sync with David Letterman's contract for 'The Late Show.' [Variety]

OK, I'll start.....I watched 'Vampire Diaries, I mean who didn't right with 4.84 million viewers. Now I need the board members to tell me, didn't it seem like a rip-off of Twilight? Now don't get me wrong, I liked it a lot. The guy that plays the lead love interest is very handsome, I think better then Edward, but can't Stephenie Meyer be upset with such a close show? Come on tell me what you think?

I also noticed a resemblence in the storyline as well and thought they were following along the lines of Twilight until I found out the tv series is based on a book series which began publication in 1991. Twilight wasn't published until 2005.
