HBO Plans Laura Dern Comedy Series & More TV News

Laura DernHBO has announced development plans for 'Enlightened,' a new single-camera comedy series starring Laura Dern. 'School of Rock' scribe Mike White will write the series, about a self-destructive woman (Dern) who tries to live an enlightened life after having a spiritual awakening. [Hollywood Reporter]

Paris HiltonParis Hilton has landed a guest spot on the CW series 'Supernatural.' Sources say Hilton will appear on episode 5 of the show's upcoming fifth season, although no word yet on what role she'll actually play. Still, as Paris would say ... huge. [E!]


James Earl JonesScreen icon James Earl Jones has booked an upcoming guest spot on 'House.' Jones will reportedly appear on season 6's fourth episode, playing President Antipas Dibala, an African dictator who becomes one of Dr. House's (Hugh Laurie) patients. May the force be with him. Bryan SingerSyfy has tapped Bryan Singer to produce a new six-hour limited series already being compared to 'The Da Vinci Code.' The action-adventure series will reportedly revolve around a Mayan calendar that predicts the end of the world. [Hollywood Reporter]


Michael Raymond James'True Blood' star Michael Raymond James will join Donal Logue in FX's 'Terriers.' James will play Britt on the hourlong comedy series, about two best friends (Logue, James) who form an unlicensed P.I. business. No word on whether they'll end up in the doghouse. Diablo CodyTurner Classic Movies is planning to spend 'A Night at the Movies.' The upcoming film series will tackle a new genre with each episode, starting this October with thrillers. Among the celebrities scheduled to appear on the show's inaugural episode include Bryan Singer, Kenneth Branagh and Oscar winner Diablo Cody. [Hollywood Reporter]
