'CSI''s Lauren Lee Smith will not be returning as a series regular for season 10. Executive producer Naren Shankar says Smith's character, Riley, got lost in the shuffle following Warrick, Sara and Grissom's departures, adding the character "never quite found its footing in terms of the rest of the gang." Meanwhile, Shankar says Sara (played by Jorja Fox) will return to the show "because the team is understaffed." Coincidence? Probably not. [TV Guide Magazine]
Actor Shawn Pyfrom is moving out of Wisteria Lane. The 'Desperate Housewives' co-star, who plays Bree's (Marcia Cross) son, Andrew, on the show, is leaving to "pursue new television and film opportunities," according to a source. Pyfrom will still make a couple of guest appearances next season, the source added. [PEOPLE]
USA has picked up 'Burn Notice' and 'Royal Pains' for a fourth and second season, respectively. 'Notice' and 'Pains,' which have performed to astounding ratings all summer, will presumably return sometime in summer 2010. Talk about a good notice. [Hollywood Reporter]
Robert Knepper has been promoted to series regular on the hit NBC drama 'Heroes.' Knepper will continue to play the evil Samuel, a ringleader who "recruits people with special powers for a mysterious purpose." 'Heroes' returns with an all-new fourth season on Mon., Sept. 21. [Hollywood Reporter]
Oscar-nominated actress Alfre Woodard will replace Julia Ormond on the upcoming CBS series 'Three Rivers.' Woodard will play head of surgery Sophia Jordon on the medical drama about organ transplants, as seen from three different points of view. [Hollywood Reporter]
Elle Macpherson and Corbin Bleu will now serve as series regulars on the CW's 'The Beautiful Life.' Both actors were previously cast in recurring roles on the series about a bunch of beautiful models living together in New York. Consider this Mischa Barton's wake-up call. [Hollywood Reporter]
FX has picked up 13 episodes of 'Lawman,' a new series starring 'Deadwood''s Timothy Olyphant. Olyphant will play Raylan Givens on the new series from 'Boomtown' writer Graham Yost, scheduled to premiere in spring 2010. [Variety]
'The Bachelorette''s Jillian Harris found true love on Monday night -- not to mention a big audience. The show's fifth season finale averaged 10 million viewers -- a strong lead-in for ABC's hit new dating series 'Dating in the Dark,' which earned an impressive 6.2 million viewers overall. [Variety]
TBS has set the premiere date for George Lopez's upcoming talk show. The new series, titled 'Lopez Tonight,' will kick off on Mon., Nov. 9, and will continue to air five nights a week at 11PM. [Variety]
Gabrielle Union has joined the cast of 'FlashForward' in a recurring role. Union will play defense lawyer Zoey, said to also have a "romantic arc" with someone on the show. We already envision good things. [Zap2It]

I'd heard about CBS taking on Medium once NBC had dropped it, but never quite believed it until last night. Flipping channels as all too often there's really nothing to hold my interest when I caught a rerun of Medium on CBS. I just hope that they don't go totally brain dead and put it opposite Saving Grace like NBC did this past season.
I'm not surprised that Lauren Lee Smith is leaving the show, but I am very disappointed. Ever since they got Laurence Fishburne to replace William Peterson, they've concentrated on Fishburne's character (AND give him Peterson's TOP Billing) and pushed all the others to the background. This used to be my favorite CSI show, but since getting Fishburne it has moved to 2nd place because I really don't like David Caruso and avoid CSI: Miami altogether. However, if they continue to treat the long-running actors of CSI the way they have been, then it will become 3rd after CSI: Miami and I will only continue to watch CSI: New York. Being only one voice, my opinion (also written to CBS) will not matter and nothing will change. I was somewhat excited to hear that Jorja Fox was coming back as a guest (I always liked her as an actress but not as Peterson's love interest) but knowing that she is replacing her replacement only tells me they had no intention of developing Lauren Lee's character once they got Fishburne.
Too bad she is being taken off CSI. I liked her character. Maybe a little more time for her to catch on. Seems like the other characters can't hold the show together and that's sad because it use to be a very good show.
Oh my God I can't stop smiling. This is the best frickin' news ever!! LLS is OUTTA THERE and they are groveling back to Jorja Fox who was NEVER appreciated or paid well enough. ROCK ON JORJA!! I'll be a happy camper come September. Nothing against LLS but her character added just a little bit less than nothing to the show. Writer's fault. Then again JF took her character (who was initially unlikeable) and made people love her and care about her

I never really liked Lauren Lee Smith. Maybe it's because she beat the great Katee Sackhoff out for this role.

Another case of some idiot wanting a pay raise. When you are not the main character they just write you out of the script of kill you off.
