Note: This is not a review, merely our first impression of an unfinished product. A show can go through many changes between the pilot stage and its official broadcast debut.
'The Good Wife'
Premise: After years as the titular good wife and mother, Alicia Florrick (Margulies) has to pick up where she left off in her career as a defense attorney following a very public sex scandal that sends her politician husband Peter (Noth) to jail.
Cast: Julianna Margulies, Chris Noth, Christine Baranski, Josh Charles, Archie Panjabi
What Works: It's a phenomenal cast -- Margulies ('ER'), Charles ('In Treatment'), Noth ('Sex and the City'), Baranski ('Ugly Betty') -- but the most compelling parts of the pilot deal with Alicia managing her children amid the aftermath of their dad's incarceration. Oh, and the parts with the sassy judge ... we love a good sassy judge.
What Doesn't: Alicia just seems to have a very sad existence. Sure, she's been through the wringer -- and yes, this is a drama -- but a little more levity in her work life, home life and relationship with old pal/new boss Will Gardner (Charles) would be nice. Plus, her instant bond with Archie, the hardened firm investigator (Panjabi), seems a little too forced.
Our Excitement Level (Out of 10): 5
Premiere Date: Tues., Sept. 22, 10PM ET on CBS

Love the premise for this show!
Quick question: Is the dog in the show a Lowchen? I have a Lowchen myself, and they are very rare! The show "Heart to Heart" also had a Lowchen in their show so I was very curious to see if this dog is a Lowchen alos.

Everyone knows that Lowchens are not a real breed of dog. Get a life, you nut!
