'Community' on NBC - New TV Pilot Preview

Note: This is not a review, merely our first impression of an unfinished product. A show can go through many changes between the pilot stage and its official broadcast debut.

'Community'

Premise: Like a comedic version of 'The Breakfast Club' -- which is heavily referenced in the pilot -- 'Community' follows a group of community college misfits who form a very unlikely study group.

Cast: Joel McHale, Chevy Chase , John Oliver, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi

What Works: 'The Soup' host McHale is hilarious (as always), and his banter with Chase, Oliver and relative newcomer Pudi is spot-on; we also love that it has all the elements of a workplace comedy without an actual workplace. Don't we all work enough?

What Doesn't: Well ... if we have to find a red flag, we'll just say we hope the show can keep up the level of sharp humor and one-liners for many semesters to come.

Our Excitement Level (Out of 10): 10

Premiere Date: Thu., Sept. 17 at 9:30PM ET on NBC
