Note: This is not a review, merely our first impression of an unfinished product. A show can go through many changes between the pilot stage and its official broadcast debut.
'Community'
Premise: Like a comedic version of 'The Breakfast Club' -- which is heavily referenced in the pilot -- 'Community' follows a group of community college misfits who form a very unlikely study group.
Cast: Joel McHale, Chevy Chase , John Oliver, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi
What Works: 'The Soup' host McHale is hilarious (as always), and his banter with Chase, Oliver and relative newcomer Pudi is spot-on; we also love that it has all the elements of a workplace comedy without an actual workplace. Don't we all work enough?
What Doesn't: Well ... if we have to find a red flag, we'll just say we hope the show can keep up the level of sharp humor and one-liners for many semesters to come.
Our Excitement Level (Out of 10): 10
Premiere Date: Thu., Sept. 17 at 9:30PM ET on NBC
PREVIOUS: 'Vampire Diaries' Preview

Somewhere I read that this is Chevy's first return to television since SNL. Didn't he have a TV talk show in the 1980s that tanked after about a month or so?
This one will do the same.
A major no-talent. My finger nails are funnier than this jerk.

Why no love for Chevy? A couple of his vacation movies were decent enough bodies of work. His role in Caddyshack was fine as well. Not everyone can be a Kirk Douglas type actor. I'm sure you won't watch his new show...and who cares?

OK, maybe I am just showing my age, but I think the opposite - Chase was an ofter over-looked and poorly placed talent. He is sharp witted and plays well in any "slap-stick" type setting, which we just don't see a lot of anymore. Certainly, his role on SNL played to this strength, as well as the Fletch movies, and of course, the Vacation movies - Christmas Vacation will always be a classic - like it or not.

Chevy, at one time was one of my favorite actors/comedians whose older movies I still love. But unfortunately, somewhere along the line he became a HUGE pompous jerk. With what he has become now it makes it tough to root for him.

come on people who in any sense of the word didn't love Fletch.I guess we all don't share the same sense of humor,so for the Chase critics, there is always the multi talented Tom Cruz
