Eddie McClintock Talks 'Warehouse 13' and Looking Like David Boreanaz

Most TV fans will know Eddie McClintock from somewhere (Noel's brother on 'Felicity'? Gabby and Carlos' adoptive baby's daddy on 'Desperate Housewives'? David Boreanaz's rival on 'Bones'?). The familiar actor talks to AOL TV about his new SyFy series 'Warehouse 13' (July 7, 9PM ET), in which he plays a Secret Service agent who's sent (along with a prickly but attractive fellow agent played by 'Vanished''s Joanne Kelly) to South Dakota to work in a top-secret government warehouse.

McClintock dishes about how he hopes 'Warehouse 13' will be the breakout hit on his lengthy TV resume, and (speaking of David Boreanaz) how he's often the subject of mistaken identity involving a pair of TV hunks. -- By Kimberly Potts

1. 'Warehouse 13' has been described as 'The X-Files' meets 'Moonlighting' meets 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' ... no pressure there, huh?
[Laughs] Yeah, that has been kind of the early assessment ... I think it has elements of all those, and really, could you take three better shows? To be compared to those three things [is] pretty cool. It has some of the suspense and intrigue of 'X-Files,' some of the adventure that 'Indiana Jones' had -- and a lot of the humor, too. Indiana Jones can be very serious and then the next second turn and be pretty funny. And I think that's what our show has, it doesn't take itself too seriously. And the 'Moonlighting' thing ... I think it's the stuff going on between the two main characters, Pete and Myka. It's not that they don't like each other, it's just that they're completely opposite people. I've been comparing their relationship to the bratty little brother who keeps pulling a little girl's pigtails, and she keeps punching him in the arm. Every button that he can push he does, because he likes to see her get excited.



2. You've said 'Warehouse 13' is your 10th or 11th series. It took George Clooney more than a dozen shows to really get his big hit with 'ER' ... do you think 'Warehouse 13' will be the one that sticks for you?
[The show] is really, really good, so yes, I hope so, but we said that with the other 9 or 10, too, you know? I was talking to ['Stargate: Atlantis' star] Joe Flanigan, who's guest-starring on 'Warehouse 13,' and he said, "Yeah, I've done 10 pilots." And I was like, "Wow, you've done 10 pilots, too? I'm on my 10th pilot." So, you know, it's weird, because you think, "Man, no one else in [Hollywood] has to go through 10 pilots to get a successful show," but the truth is that it happens more frequently than you would think.

3. You've had a lot of memorable roles -- 'Crumbs' and 'Stark Raving Mad' and guest spots on 'Felicity,' 'Bones,' 'Desperate Housewives' and 'My Boys' -- what do fans remember you from most often?
Actually, people see me and think that they went to school with me. They generally can't remember why they know me, but they're like, "Didn't I go to school [with you]?" or "Why do I know you, how do we know each other?" That, or they think I'm David Boreanaz.

4. I was just going to ask you about that, because you are often described as looking like him ...
Well, it's funny, because my sister had watched 'A River Runs Through It' one day and called me up and she was like, "Oh my God, I saw this movie and I started to cry because this guy looked so much like you!" She was talking about Craig Sheffer. Then I saw the movie, and I thought, yeah, I guess I do look like this guy. But then David [Boreanaz] came on the scene, and I was doing 'Stark Raving Mad' with Tony Shalhoub, and he had just done 'Galaxy Quest' with Sam Rockwell, who I met, and he and I were talking and he goes "Hey, wait a minute ... I know you. You're on that TV show." And I was like, "Yeah, yeah." And he goes, "Dude, is Buffy hot?" So then later I was at an audition, talking to some guy, and he says, "Oh man, I thought you were Craig Sheffer!" And he calls this other guy over, and it is Craig Sheffer. And he says to him, "Hey Craig, this guy looks exactly like you," and Craig Sheffer says, "Yeah ... my God, you're so handsome" [laughs]. So that was fun, to meet him, but then years after that, when I went to the set of 'Bones' and met David, he says to me, "You know who you look like, right? You look just like Craig Sheffer."

5. Those aren't bad guys to be compared to though, right?
Oh no, not at all. Plus, [Boreanaz] told me he used to get compared to Josh Brolin all the time; people think he's Josh Brolin, so he was joking that the three of us, David, Josh and I, should make a movie together. We can play three bad seed brothers who look just like each other.
