Yesterday, PopWatch broke what may be the most exciting DVD news since, well, ever: 'Ally McBeal' is finally coming to DVD.Both a first season and a complete series edition of the Emmy-winning comedy, which premiered on Fox in 1997, are scheduled for a release date yet to be determined.
But while we're more than willing to shell out 130 bucks for the complete series, the news only reminded us of other shows that are still awaiting the proper DVD treatment.
So listen up, studios: Here are seven TV shows we're dying to see on DVD.
'LA Law'
It won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series a whopping four times in its eight-year run on NBC. But it's been 15 years since it went off the air, and a DVD release is still nowhere in sight. We wonder: Between this and 'Ally McBeal,' are people just not that into David E. Kelley?
'The Wonder Years'Rumor has it 'The Wonder Years' is stuck in DVD limbo over music rights to the songs used during its run. But if the music-heavy 'Ally McBeal' can make its way onto DVD, surely this one can as well.
'Daria'
With its dry wit and sarcasm, this is one high school experience we'd actually like to revisit -- if only for the theme song.
'The Larry Sanders Show'
For a show that received over 50 Emmy nominations and paved the way for future HBO hits like 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' and 'The Sopranos,' we think 'Larry Sanders' is entitled to more than just a first season and "best of" release.
'Everwood: Season 3'Five years passed between the release of season 1 and season 2, which just hit shelves last month. Don't make us wait that long for season 3.
'Rich Girls'
Before 'NYC Prep' there was 'Rich Girls,' MTV's compulsively addicting reality show that followed teens Ally Hilfiger and Jaime Gleicher in and around Manhattan. If anything, a DVD release could show PC and crew a thing or two about how to make compelling TV.
'Once and Again: Season 3'
In a major DVD tease, season 3 was delayed indefinitely following a planned Jan. 2006 launch. We think enough time has passed for studios to try 'Again.'
Tell us: What shows would you love to see on DVD?

My own selections would include "Harry O," "Hec Ramsey," "Banyon," "The Name of the Game," "It Takes a Thief," "City of Angels," "Assignment: Vienna," "Private Eye," "Search," "The Defenders," "Ellery Queen," "Petrocelli," and "Tenafly." I'd buy all of those in a snap.
Cheers, Jeff

What about one of my favorites, SWINGTOWN. That show should have gotten a second season. At least give me Season 1 on DVD. And HARPER'S ISLAND, I know it has one episode left, but I know it is not coming back. That needs to be on DVD too.

I have been waiting for a release of Robot Chicken on Adult Swim! Seth Green is a genius!

I would love to see "The Norm Show" come to DVD and the movies "Melanie" and "Why Would I Lie?" These are some of my favorites.

I'd like to add a couple of animated series to the wish list. Reboot and Starblazers. What's even worse than not getting a show on DVD is getting a show where they split the season into two parts and still charge you as much as a full season.

RE:DVD's not released. The remainder of NYPD Blues (they released seasons 1-4 several years ago and then stopped)and the remainder of Hill Street Blues (they released seasons 1 & 2 and stopped). How about St. Elsewhere, great cast, good story lines. Ther are more but my mind just took a break :-)

I would like to see seasons 1 and 3 of "Missing". The "Lou Grant" series is not available, and neither are "Molly Dodd" and "Maniac Mansion", which is preposterous. Only the first season of "Clarissa Explains It All" is available. I would like to be able to get a DVD of the "Veronica Clare" series. The list could go on and on.

Season 1 for St Elsewhere is out. I'd like
ALL the seasons, please! Also: 30 Something was a really engrossing show, and I agree about LA Law. There are so many, it's hard to list them all!

Season 2 of Here Come the Brides, The Monroes, The Quest which starred Kurt Russell and Tim Matheson. The Young Rebels, The New Land, and so many more...I'll stop now.
