'Eastwick' on ABC - New TV Pilot Preview

Note: This is not a review, merely our first impression of an unfinished product. A show can go through many changes between the pilot stage and its official broadcast debut.

'Eastwick'

Premise: When a mysterious stranger comes to town, three women -- a newspaper reporter, an artist and a nurse -- discover they hold supernatural powers in this drama based on the movie (and John Updike novel) 'The Witches of Eastwick.'

Cast: Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, Jaime Ray Newman, Paul Gross

What Works: The three leads are instantly likable in this sort of supernatural 'Desperate Housewives,' and the show has the high-gloss sheen that we associate with ABC dramas.

What Doesn't: Unfortunately, most of the other characters (especially the men) are dull or annoying. And Gross as the devilish Darryl is no Jack Nicholson.

Our Excitement Level (Out of 10): 5

Premiere Date: TBD. Airing Wednesdays at 10PM ET on ABC
