'Trauma' on NBC - New TV Pilot Preview

Note: This is not a review, merely our first impression of an unfinished product. A show can go through many changes between the pilot stage and its official broadcast debut.

'Trauma'

Premise: Paramedics in San Francisco race to reach emergency scenes and save their victims, while dealing with the emotional fallout from losing some of their own in a tragic accident.

Cast: Anastasia Griffith, Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Aimee Garcia, Jamey Sheridan, Kevin Rankin

What Works: The frenetic pace definitely gets the heart pumping, while Cliff Curtis shines as the complicated and mercurial Rabbit

What Doesn't: The show tries mightily to be 'ER,' but the characters are not drawn well enough, the plot is overwrought and the ensemble cast is uneven. Also, what's with all the (many) unnecessary close-ups of needles and medical equipment?

Our Excitement Level (Out of 10): 4

Premiere Date: Mon., Sept. 28 at 9PM ET on NBC
