'Rescue Me'(10PM, FX) 5th season premiere
It's been a year and a half since we saw Tommy (Denis Leary) finally bond with his gruff dad, only to have the senior Gavin head off to that big dugout in the sky while the two were at a baseball game.
Not-so-dear-old dad's death, and the discovery of some home movies, leads to a classic, dark, but hilarious riff from Tommy about the tendency to idealize people when they die.
As usual, Tommy's got a whole plateful of other dramas to deal with, from his cousin's bender and his own upcoming Section 8 hearing to a reporter who's going to dredge up some 9/11 controversies and Janet's new boyfriend, played by a wonderfully snarky, scene-stealing Michael J. Fox.
'The Real Housewives of New Jersey Preview Special'
(11PM, Bravo)
What's next, 'The Real Housewives of Staten Island'? Eh, who are we kidding, we'd watch that, too. Tonight's preview introduces us to the Joisey housewives whose season debuts on May 12.
'Fringe'
(9PM, Fox)
Thought the show had been cancelled? Nah. Not yet, anyway. But it returns from its almost two-month hiatus with a creepy installment that involves a mute child and a super freaky serial killer.
'Trust Me'
(10PM, TNT) 1st season finale
Tom Cavanagh and Eric McCormack are tube greats, but the season finale of this underwhelming show is also likely to be the series finale.
'The Mentalist'
(9PM, CBS)
Patrick and co. go to Hollywood to investigate the murder of a movie producer and run into Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin. Well, actors playing those stars ... the real Monroe and Chaplin are dead, silly!
'My Boys'
(10:30PM, TBS)
Eeeeeee! In the interest of not spoiling things for those who may not have caught the season opener yet, how excited are we that you-know-who and you-know-who are you-know-what-ing?!
'90210'
(9PM, The CW)
Jason Priestley directs this episode, but sadly remains behind the camera. In the angsty plot, her fam and friends finally find out what's been making Silver act so loopy.
Also on tonight:
- 'It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown' (8PM, ABC)
- 'Women Behind Bars' (10PM, WE)
What's on tomorrow: 'The Unusuals,' 'High School Reunion' and more
