Best 'Battlestar Galactica' Episodes

Battlestar GalacticaAll this has happened before ... but will it happen again?

The critically-acclaimed series 'Battlestar Galactica' draws to a close tonight, when fans go on one last fantastic, fraught journey with Admiral William Adama (Edward James Olmos) and President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and their frenemies, the Cylons.

Before the series finale airs, here's a look back at our favorite episodes from the show's six-year run.

1. '33'
(Season 1, Episode 1; aired Jan. 14, 2005)
Aside from the miniseries, the episode that started it all. Suspenseful, claustrophobic and fraught with drama, this was probably the best pilot of any series ever. So say we all.

2. 'Kobol's Last Gleaming: Part II'

(Season 1, Episode 13; aired April 1, 2005)
Adama staged a coup! Starbuck engaged in a wicked fight with a Six! Boomer discovered she was a Cylon! Boomer then shot Adama in the stomach -- twice! Jaw, floor. Enough said.

3. 'Blood on the Scales'
(Season 4, Episode 16; aired March 6, 2009)
After a 'BSG' panel held at the United Nations earlier this week, I told Mary McDonnell that if she didn't get an Emmy nomination this year, it was war. As Roslin said, "Do you hear me? I will use every cannon, every bomb, every bullet, every weapon I have down to my own eyeteeth to end you. I swear it! I'm coming for all of you!"

4. 'Lay Down Your Burdens: Part II'
(Season 2, Episode 20; aired March 10, 2006)
Roslin tried to fix the election! With Tigh's help! Baltar became president! The fleet settled on New Caprica! Baltar woke up a year later! The Cylons showed up and started an occupation! Jaw and floor were now BFFs.

5. 'Unfinished Business'
(Season 3, Episode 9; aired Dec. 1, 2006)
Boxing cures all. Also, love any scene where Adama and Roslin toke up.

6. 'Revelations'
(Season 4, Episode 12; aired June 13, 2008)
Devastating scene #1: A sobbing Adama tears apart his quarters after learning his friend and XO is a Cylon. Devastating scene #2: The fleet finds Earth and discovers their future is a barren, nuked wasteland.

7. 'Crossroads: Part II'

(Season 3, Episode 20; aired March 25, 2007)
As Baltar's trial came to a chilling end, we learned the identities of four of the final five Cylons. Oh, and Starbuck returned from the dead.

8. 'Scar'
(Season 2, Episode 15; aired Feb. 3, 2006)
Sign us up for any hour revolving around Starbuck, but this one showed her at her best (badass pilot) and her worst (self-destructive, frakked-up).

9. 'Pegasus'
(Season 2, Episode 10; aired Sept. 23, 2005)
One of the great things about 'BSG' was how it turned things around on us. In this case, the appearance of another battlestar should've been cause for joy. But as we found out, those who appear to be friends can quickly become foes.

10. 'Flight of the Phoenix'
(Season 2, Episode 9; aired Sept. 16, 2005)
Even in the bleakest of circumstance, everybody needs a little hope and inspiration, and in this case, it came in the form of Tyrol's stealth fighter.

Honorable mentions: The miniseries, 'Someone to Watch Over Me' and 'Home: Part I and II'
