Reality Blurred

What to Watch Monday, Dec. 29

the city'The City'
(10 and 10:30PM, MTV) series premiere
We've always loved that Whitney Port's the most drama-free member of 'The Hills' bunch, but here's hoping that's no longer the case now that she's moved to New York City for this spinoff.

Her days of listening to L.C.'s never-ending relationship woes are indeed behind her. But with a prestigious new job with fashionista Diane von Furstenberg comes ambitious new co-workers, and that promises to lead to major office politics.

And let's not forget Whit's new boyfriend Jay ... he's no Justin Bobby (and we mean that in a good way), but between a demanding job, life in a new city and quality time with her guy, Whitney's bound to find out just how hectic reality TV life can get.

'Bromance'
(9PM, MTV) series premiere
'Hills' sidekick Brody Jenner seems like a bad risk for a romance, but being his bromantic partner at least insures you'll get name-checked in US Weekly. Nine dudes who think that would be a good thing compete to be his new BFF in this reality competition.

'Le Cirque: A Table in Heaven'
(8PM, HBO)
The documentary goes behind the scenes of the fancy schmancy New York City eatery, where celebs and royalty have dined, and where Sirio Maccioni and his three sons have kept the French restaurant in the family for more than three decades.

'Ron Howard: 50 Years in Film'
(8PM, TCM)
Howard said in Vanity Fair magazine that he considers his greatest achievement to be "Forty-eight consecutive years of steady employment in television and film, while preserving a rich family life." Now, he can kick that number up to five decades of steady Hollywood work, as is celebrated in this special, with commentary from Howard and his industry pals.

'Seven Deadly Sins'
(9PM, History Channel) miniseries premiere
The cable network dedicates an hour each night for the next seven nights to the seven deadly sins, beginning with tonight's ode to lust. Well, maybe not so much "ode to" as "examination of."

'Momma's Boys'
(10PM, NBC)
We don't mean to get all feminist up in here, but what are these women thinking?! Tonight, they compete in a cooking contest to win the 'privilege' of not telling the momma's boys about the more unsavory parts of their past. The losers, meanwhile, have to spill all ... to the mothers. Run, desperate single women, run!

'100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs'
(10PM, VH1)
From AC/DC to ZZ Top, this five-night special (tonight through Friday, 10PM each night) counts down the songs that make you want to bang yer head.

Also on tonight:
- 'Greatest Holiday Moments: Hilarious Home Video Countdown' (8PM, NBC)
- 'The Tunnel Dwellers of New York' (9PM, Sundance)

What's on tomorrow: 'Kennedy Center Honors,' 'Real Housewives' and more
