'The Parent Trap'

Get together with your family to watch the original version of 'The Parent Trap.' Kids today may be more familiar with the Lindsay Lohan remake, but this 1961 version has even more laughs and heart. A young Hayley Mills plays twins Susan and Sharon with such an effortless charm that kids will never guess a split screen was used. Kids will also love the twists and turns to the story, which has two long lost twins switching places to reunite their parents. And with screen legend Maureen O'Hara as the mother, parents can join in on the fun, too. The mere site of Mills will have them switching places with their kids and reliving the Disney magic all over again.

'In the Heat of the Night'
Mon., 9 PM on TCM

Rod Stieger and Sidney Poitier make an unlikely, but incredible team in this tense detective crime drama. After Poitier (in this movie, they call him Mister Tibbs) is wrongly accused of murder, he must help Stieger find the killer, and the movie unfolds with commentary on racial tolerance that is still prevalent 40 years after its release. You won't want to miss Stieger as gruff Police Chief Bill Gillespie, which won him an Oscar, or Poitier, who delivers one of the most famous movie lines of all-time. The film also won Best Picture over other movie classics like 'Bonnie and Clyde' and 'The Graduate', and in a race that heated, it must have done something right.

'The Silence of the Lambs'
Tues., 11:20 PM on Starz

'The Silence of the Lambs' is the perfect movie to segue into Halloween season. The thrills are still very much alive nearly 20 years after it won the Best Picture Oscar, and thrill seekers will be in movie Heaven when Clarice Starling's hunt for Buffalo Bill builds to a terrifying conclusion. But even those who aren't scary movie fans will enjoy the Oscar-winning performances from Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. Foster makes for a memorable heroine, and you'll want to stick close by her side. But in the end it's Hopkins' haunting voice that will stay with you for days -- and nights, too. He's only in the movie for a mere 17 minutes, but you'll never taste fava beans or chianti the same way again.

'Father of the Bride'
Wed., 8 PM ET on Encore

Steve Martin is both funny and sympathetic in this updated version of the Spencer Tracy
classic. He shares a wonderful chemistry with on-screen daughter Kimberly Williams that families, especially fathers and daughters, will cherish. In fact, as the ceremony preparations move forward, you'll see so much of yourselves in these characters that when the wedding finally arrives you won't want to give them away. The movie also features Diane Keaton as the mother of the bride, and Martin Short is so funny as the eccentric wedding planner Franck that you will want to RSVP immediately.

'Unfaithful'
Thurs., 9 PM on Lifetime

Diane Lane earned an Oscar-nomination for her rather, um, revealing performance in the romantic thriller 'Unfatihful.' She plays a housewife who stumbles into an affair with Olivier Martinez, and their steamy hookup is enough to keep your AC running through October. Best of all: Richard Gere makes his 2nd of 3 on-screen appearances with Lane (his third, 'Nights in Rodanthe,' is now playing in theaters). Once his character finds out about the affair, you'll be on the edge of your seat just like in 'Fatal Attraction' -- only this time, no rabbits are involved.

'Primal Fear'
Fri., 9 PM ET on Bravo

Fans of Edward Norton will want to catch his multiple personalities in the legal crime drama 'Primal Fear.' In it, he holds his own so effectively opposite an all star cast of Richard Gere, Laura Linney and Frances McDormand that you will be shocked to find out it was his debut film performance. But most shocking is the film's much talked about ending, which will surprise even those who saw the movie in theaters. Much of the film is spent questioning the case -- did Norton actually kill the Priest, or did one of his multiple personalities do it? -- and when questions are finally answered you'll be shivering with fear.

'Spaceballs'
Sat., 4 PM on G4

Never underestimate the power of the Schwartz -- or in this case, Mel Brooks. With 'Spaceballs' he's created a very funny spoof on 'Star Wars,' and it includes a cast of actors like Bill Pullman, John Candy, Joan Rivers and Rick Moranis, who plays Pullman's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate, Dark Helmet. Copious amounts of one liners help to move 'Spaceballs' at ludicrous speed, and fans of 'Star Wars' will love insider jokes like Yogurt, Brooks' version of Yoda. But you don't have to be familiar with 'Star Wars' to appreciate the zany script, which cracks enough everyday jokes to keep you laughing with the Jedis. So set your DVR, and may the Schwartz be with you.

'The Brave One'
Sat., 8 PM on HBO

Jodie Foster is a woman on a mission in 'The Brave One.' This time, she plays a woman who seeks to find her husband's killers (attention 'Lost' fans: her hubby is played by Naveen Andrews) with the help of a trusty -- albeit illegally obtained -- gun. 'The Brave One's' twisty plot will appeal to both sexes: guys will enjoy the tough, frequently violent path that Foster takes as she gets her revenge, while women will appreciate the subtle effort she puts into her Golden Globe-nominated performance. And both will have something to say about the ending when someone from her past throws her a bone.

'Some Like it Hot'
AOL TV

Haven't seen 'Some Like it Hot' yet? Well, as you'll learn by the end of it, nobody's perfect. But this laugh-out-loud comedy from the great Billy Wilder is about as close as it gets. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis give career best performances as they run from the mob while chasing the same girl (Marilyn Monroe) -- and they do it all in drag. The laughs build the more they get into character, and climax with a hilarious tango dance between Lemmon and his on-screen pseduo lover, Osgood Fielding the Third. But the real scene stealer is Monroe. Her ditzy, yet endearing performance is as sweet as Sugar, and her pitch-perfect comedic timing will have you wishing her career had lasted decades longer.
