Brea Grant Interview for 'Heroes'

When the ominous subtitle of the third season of 'Heroes' was announced ('Villains') (premieres Monday, Sept. 22, 9PM EST, NBC), the promise of more baddies threw super fans into overdrive.

One of the hot new additions is Brea Grant, who plays Daphne, aka the Speedster, and Hiro's new nemesis. 'Friday Night Lights' fans will recognize her as geeky girl Jean Binnel from last season, but in this role, she's a lightning-fast force to be reckoned with.

AOL TV visited the 'Heroes' set to get the dish on Daphne straight from the source -- Grant chatted about her new gig, her possible return to 'FNL' and the one ability she really does need. Plus, see how she fared in our bonus lightning round.

1. Were you a fan of the show before you got this part?
I was! I'm kind of a super-nerd, so I like comic books and shows like this. So, yeah, it was daunting, to say the least. But it's fun -- I'm up through episode 9 and starting to get used to it, I guess. [Laughs]

2. Was there a certain power you were hoping to have?
No, because I knew I was coming in for this power, I guess, so I hadn't really thought about it. [My power] is awesome -- if I had it in real life, it'd be amazing. I'd never be late, my room would always be clean, I'd never run out of, like, cereal at home. It'd be great. I think about it when I'm running late here, like If I only really had the power. [Laughs]

3. Have all the timelines confused you yet? And is there a past Daphne?
Not yet, but I would not be surprised. I've done present and future, then I had a dream state [where] I was in a dream in somebody's head. So there's a lot of different Daphnes going around.

4. Did you do any research on your power before starting work?
I did. I think that's the best part about being an actor because your research is way cooler than other people's research. So I read a bunch of Flash comics, and I tried to watch the 'Flash' series but, to be honest, it was really bad.

5. Do you think that Daphne has another level of her power? So many 'Heroes' characters' powers have evolved ...
I feel like I could walk in one day and they'd be like, "Oh also, you fly." [Laughs] Something crazy could happen because it is 'Heroes,' but as of right now, it seems like this is it. Although we haven't quite gone through the whole of it ... like, do I eat really fast? Do I have to eat, like, a super lot? I think so, because my metabolism's probably fast. Can I run on water? Flash can. Stuff like that, you know?

6. Do you feel like her molecules spread out when she's "flashing"?
Yeah, Flash can vibrate so quickly that he can go through walls. I don't know -- that's probably something that Daphne hasn't quite figured out yet because, up until she meets all these people, she's been using her powers to steal stuff. It's been strictly misbehaving, and they're kind of making her go to a whole other world.

7. Whose power would you want, if you could trade?
Time travel! But speed's pretty rad. I think I need poise -- I know it's not an ability, but I'm just so clumsy that it would really save me a lot of trouble. I wouldn't fall down as much.

8. What's the worst thing you've ever done in your own life?
If you print this, my grandmother's gonna read it. [Laughs] I will admit that at some point I probably stole some stuff as a teen, but I'm kind of a goodie-goodie, to be honest. I shaved my head when I was 14 -- is that bad? I asked my dad's permission first. He said, "You're gonna look like a boy." And I said, "OK" ... then I did it anyway. All through high school, I had a shaved head and I'd dye it crazy colors -- it was so fun.

9. Any chance you'd return for another stint on 'Friday Night Lights'?
You know, I would love to. That was the most fun character to play -- that show is just amazing. You get to dive in to the improvisation and there's no restraints on you -- you get to be your character 100% of the time.

10. Have you gotten a taste of what being on a show like 'Heroes' is really like yet?
I will say, I went to Comic-Con after they showed [the season premiere] -- I just went to buy comic books -- and people were stopping me and wanting to get pictures with me. I'm in it for maybe three seconds, and they already recognize me.

In the spirit of your character's power, we have a little lightning round of questions about Daphne.
Was she alone before she rushed in to meet Hiro?
Definitely. She's been completely alone.
Is Daphne married?
In the future she is.
Is she married to someone we know and love?
Probably to someone you know and love. Probably.
Does she have kids?
She has a child, yes. She does.
Hmmm ...
